Snitching Lady White Rum

In honor of Burro Days coming up this weekend, (7/29/2023), here is a review of their newest release; White Rum. Originally released at their 5 Year Anniversary Party, the white rum was used in many of the cocktails served starting that weekend.

Colorado Rums have a tendency to be a little off, something that will be explored deeper at some point on the podcast, but this one was surprising in that it really captured a lot of what I expect from a Jamaican or other Caribbean rum.

Currently this Rum is only available at the distillery in Fairplay, you can sample it there along with cocktails made with the rum. Bottles will be available for sale soon!

In the Bottle:

Mashbill:

Cane Sugar and Molasses imported from Jamaica and the Caribbean.

Age:

Unaged

Proof:

100 Proof (50% ABV)

In the Glass:

Color:

Crystal Clear.

Without Water:

Nose:

Sweet up front, tons of sugar, even a little bit of molasses/darker nose contrasting the extremely light color. However, there is a light fruit note there as well.

Palate:

That sweetness from the nose carries over, immediately showcasing the sugar cane. Very clean and light, the mid palate has a small amount of dark sweetness, a little burnt sugar.

Finish:

Crisp, light and clean with some lemon grass, other green grassy notes, and again plenty of sweetness.

With Water:

Nose:

A grassy with a hint of citrus note comes through. A little bit of bright earthiness comes through as well.

Palate:

Softer but sweeter on the mid palate, the dark sugar notes fade but a very crisp and clean cane sugar note comes through.

Finish:

Surprisingly slightly drier and more grassy and earthy finish with a few drops of water. There is still plenty of sweet notes as well.

Final Thoughts:

Again, Colorado seems to be a strange spot to make rum. While I enjoy rums made here in the state, they are just not quite the same. Could it be due to the typically lack of humidity and different climate altogether? I honestly can not say at this point.

That being said, Snitching Lady’s distiller Thomas takes the same passion for distilling all of their other products and pours it into the rum. In talking to him after sampling it at the distillery, his excitement was clear as the rum itself. I am extremely excited to see what comes of the aged rum that will eventually be released from the distillery.

This rum is definitely built as an excellent base for many rum cocktails, including the Fairplay Beach they serve at the distillery.
