It’s that time of year, when everyone is beginning to search for Buffalo Trace’s Antique collection. While this bottle is not part of that, it is made at the same distillery, and has the same mash bill as some of the more difficult to find bottles, such as a couple of the Pappy Van Winkle bottles. This delicious bottle is much easier to find (the non-single barrel selections), although recently it has grown in popularity making it a little more difficult to come across. This particular single barrel Selection is only Available at Total Beverage.
Distillery: Buffalo Trace
ABV: 45% (90 Proof)
Age: No Age Statement, however from some research this bottle appears to be around 7 years old.
Color: Light Golden and clear
Nose: A very enticing nose, with notes of pear, cinnamon, toasted nuts/almonds, vanilla, hints of citrus and dark fruits. It is interesting as the nose is not overly sweet smelling, but has smells that would be typically considered sweet.
Palate: Smooth, easy sipping, soft and approachable. Vanilla, citrus, and fruit are all noticeable right off the bat, with some vanilla, toasted nuts, oak, and even a bit of marshmallow. A smooth, velvety mouth feel, full bodied and very enjoyable bourbon.
Finish: Bright and smooth finish that lingers for a while.
