TX Whiskey Firestone and Robertson Distilling

Today we have a guest reviewer helping us, and he brought us a whiskey we can’t usually get in Colorado from Texas. From the Firestone and Robertson Distilling in Fort Worth, here is the TX Whiskey, reviewed with special guest Evan

Starting off, the nose on this one has some honey and vanilla bean notes. Maybe a hint of oak, but not too complex on the nose. Angie and myself picked up a lot of vanilla, while Evan and Angie were able to find and point out the honey.

Moving onto the palate, this is one very soft whiskey. Like drinking a cloud. Which sounds really good, but I don’t think it was quite what I was looking for. With some sweetness, more honey and vanilla, it had a good flavor, but it wasn’t too strong on any of the individual flavors. Again, it is super soft, so the flavors are less apparent. The finish is short, definitely disappears from the palate quickly. After adding a touch of water, the nose almost adds a chocolate smell, but otherwise the whiskey stays the same.

Overall, we all rated this pretty similarly.

Zach: 81/100

Angie: 83/100

Evan: 80/100

Overall: 81/100

This is definitely is a tasty one, but it just doesn’t have too much going on in it. If you can find it for under $40, I would say this is one to pick up, but the retail is above that $40 line, which I think is more than should be charged for it. However, this is also a great whiskey for people who don’t drink it too often, or are just looking to start, as it is very soft and smooth.
