Abbott & Wallace Distilling, Longtucky Spirits (Longmont CO)
Tiny’s Oktoberfest Bierschnapps
45% ABV (90 Proof)
Distilled from Left Hand Brewing’s Oktoberfest Marzen Lager
Bierschnapps continues to be a fun product that we very much enjoy trying. Distilling a beer into a whiskey creates an interesting flavor that stands out among spirits. This Oktoberfest Bierschnapps was made with Left Hand Brewing’s Oktoberfest Marzen, which is a really good Oktoberfest as well, so this was one we were very excited to get into.
Color: Golden Copper, Brown
Nose: The marzen lager really comes through, roasted malt notes are abundant right off the bat. There are some oak notes that come through as well.
Palate: Sweet notes and roasted malt are immediately noticeable. There are some spices that compliment the sweetness. Notes of toasted marshmallow come through as well. The malty notes are the most prominent, but it is still sweet and easy sipping, remarkably smooth.
Finish: Sweet and lingering, leaving a beer note on the tongue as it fades away.
With water:
Nose: The beer notes really come through, the malt and just general oktoberfest marzen really becomes apparent.
Palate: Any spice notes that were there fade away. The overall Oktoberfest flavors really take over.
Finish: Malty and a little sweet, but significantly shorter.

Really a cool spirit, Bierschnapps always is a unique drinker. The fact that it really tastes like an Oktoberfest Marzen Lager is extremely cool. Pick one up if you find it!
