Snitching Lady Distillery, Fairplay Colorado
Rye Whiskey
Batch 001
No Age Statement
Snitching Lady Distillery, located in Fairplay, is a relatively new distillery, producing a few different products. Before we get too much into the review of their rye, we want to let you all know that the folks there make some delicious cocktails. Seriously, you should check them out if you find yourself up in the South Park area. Now onto the Rye Whiskey.
Color: Pale Hay, and remarkably clear.
Nose: Crisp but soft, there are some sweet sugary notes and lots of rye, but not a spicy rye, just the grain.
Palate: Sweet corn notes, sugar and lots of rye. There are some spice notes, but it is overall very light and smooth. There are black pepper notes, some tart flavors, and oak giving some vanilla flavors.
Finish: A short, smooth finish, but tart with some rye.
With water:
Nose: The rye spices come out more, bits of cinnamon and spices, but also a little sweeter.
Palate: Softer once the water is added, but the rye really starts to shine through. Sweet right off the beginning that goes right into rye bread, black pepper, and more baking spices such as nutmeg. There is also a sweet fruit, maybe pear note.
Finish: Cinnamon and Nutmeg, doesn’t get shorter but is still a quick finish.
