Peach Street Distillers Bier Schnapps Ska Steel Toe Stout

A schnapps that’s not a schnapps in the sense that most people think, but more a whiskey that also isn’t a whiskey. Welcome to Peach Street Distillery’s Bier Schnapps. Peach Street Distillery partnered with a couple of local breweries to make this spirit, Left Hand and Ska. They take beer from the breweries, distill it, then age it for 3 years in their whiskey barrels. The result is an amazingly unique, and quite tasty spirit. The ones that are currently available for purchase are Left Hand IPA and Ska Steel Toe Stout, and we are reviewing the latter of the two today.

Peach Street Bier Schnapps Ska Steel Toe Stout

ABV: 46%, 92 Proof
Age: 3 Years in Oak Barrels

Color: A very clean and clear pour, pale golden yellow

Nose: The nose makes it feel that your standing in a brewery. There are hop notes and lemon/citrus smells, some dried fruits, vanilla, and some stout beer/chocolate comes through as well. Not a lot of alcohol, but definitely an amazing, and inviting nose.

Palate: Hoppy citrus flavors hit you right up front, bitter flavors, and light on the beginning. The sip quickly swells up in a chocolatey stout flavor with some hazelnut, vanilla, and oak flavors on the back that linger for a while and coats the back of the mouth.

With Water:

Nose: A little bit less on the hops, and more citrus. Some vanilla notes are still apparent, the chocolate is still there but a bit fainter.

Palate: More citrus up on the front, and the hops fade a little bit. There are flavors of grapefruit and lemon up front/early mid palate. Still some light, bitter flavors that again swell into a big chocolate, hazelnut, vanilla and oak flavor.

Z really enjoyed the flavor, and loved how unique it is. A really enjoyed its uniqueness as well, but it was a little too bitter for her liking. The price that it is at makes it one that you have to pick up, only $29.99. Worth it for the uniqueness alone.
