A.D. Laws Four Grain Straight Bourbon Single Barrel

A.D. Laws 4 Grain TB Barrel

Today I am reviewing easily one of the top five bourbons, even top five whiskeys, I have ever tried. While the reviews on this site are few, I have definitely had a lot of bourbon and whiskey, and this one stands out among them all. Made right here in the Mile High City, the A.D. Laws is one tough bottle to pass up.

The particular bottle I am reviewing today is the Single Barrel selected by Total Beverage, so it is a little more unique, as the exact flavors from this barrel can only be tasted if you pick up here, and I absolutely recommend you do.

Starting off, the Laws hits the nose with a mix of scents. It is sweet and spicy, with notes of the rye and oak. Up front the whiskey has flavors of the sweetness from the corn that hit you right away, leading smoothly into a mid palate of spicy rye flavors. The finish has great, lingering flavors of brown sugar and vanilla from the time the whiskey spent in the barrel. If you like to add a little water, or an ice cube, you will really open the sweet flavors of vanilla and brown sugar, while not downplaying the rye influence. The finish still lingers even after adding water or an ice cube.

If you are not a regular whiskey drinker, the smoothness of this bourbon makes it easily approachable. However, there are so many little complexities that all bourbon drinkers will enjoy. This is truly a whiskey that you can not go wrong with.
