Laws Whiskey House Distillery
4 Grain Bourbon Finished in Rum Casks
Age: Minimum 2 years
47.5% ABV (95 Proof)
Batch #7
A new bottle in the Special Finish series from Laws Whiskey House. The rum was made at the Laws distillery, and is not being sold anywhere. We did get some of the rum to try as well, and will add onto this review after we have tried it. Let’s get right into the bourbon!
Color: Light Amber and clear
Nose: The rum notes are very apparent, brown sugar/molasses and vanilla, with some dark cherry or other dark fruits and a touch of caramel also coming through.
Palate: Sweet, smooth and easy drinking. Sweet notes start off, moving into some spices and tobacco notes. Vanilla, molasses and rum spices are all very apparent, but the bourbon doesn’t disappear, which really is nice to see.
Finish: Some rum spices that linger for a while, and extremely smooth, leaving a nice flavor without too much alcohol.
With Water:
Nose: The dark fruits become more apparent, especially a black cherry almost, with a bit of plum. Tobacco notes also come out a bit more, but the overall sweet rum notes of molasses and vanilla are still the predominant notes.
Palate: Loses a bit of the boldness and becomes softer, but some of the spices come out more with that. The rum spices, molasses and vanilla come through more, while some of the bourbon spices and notes don’t hold up as much.
Finish: It shortens a decent amount, but it is still a silky smooth, rum based finish that lingers a while.

Can I buy this?
It is available at a few locations currently, including the distillery. Are you located in Colorado, and if so what part? I can find out a couple stores it would be available at for you possibly.
