Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel

Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel is a once a year, limited release bourbon from the Buffalo Trace Distillery. I picked up this bottle, as most others I get, from Total Beverage in Thornton, Colorado for $39.99.

On the nose, the bourbon gives off scents of corn, clove, and hints of leather and the oak it is aged in. Once on the palate, the whiskey immediately hits you with some sweetness and corn, with a hint of spiciness. Not a lot on the mid palate, as it smoothly rolls onto the back with flavors of honey, vanilla, and molasses that lingers for a while after the bourbon has left the tongue. Once adding some water or an ice cube, the clove on the nose and the flavors of the vanilla and honey are opened up. Very little heat on this whiskey, makes it approachable and very enjoyable. Overall, this bourbon gets a 86 out of 100, easy to drink and a great flavor.

With the fact that this bourbon is a very limited release, it is something to look forward to each year. This whiskey is hard to beat in the limited release series from Buffalo Trace, especially considering the price.
