As you sit at Brunch, or New Years Eve as we did, there is a shockingly few number of options for a champagne cocktail past the Mimosa. So we decided to dig, and came across this tasty recipe made with bourbon, orange liqueur, bitters, and bubbles. The bitters help to balance out the sweetness coming from the bourbon and orange liqueur. The bubbles add a nice mouth feel. Served over ice to keep cold, and this drink can quickly become a favorite if you are looking for a new way to enjoy your favorite sparkling wine.
The Seelbach:
1oz Bourbon – Mashbuild Bourbon from Black Forest Distilling is what we used
1/2oz Orange Liqueur – Gran Gala
4-8 Dashes Bitters – We used Peychaud and Angnostura, then used just one. Either way is good. Orange Bitters could be a good touch.
Sparkling Wine to top – Segura Brut Cava was our choice for this run.
Orange Twist for Garnish
Combine the bourbon, bitters, and orange liqueur in a glass with ice. Top with bubbles and garnish with an orange twist.
