2020 Mile High Bourbon & Rye Colorado Distillery Bracket

Hi Everyone. As you all know, the COVID-19 virus has been affecting people in our industry, especially at Local Distilleries, breweries, Bars, and Restaurants. We are going to be extending the finals voting by one extra week, continuously share it, and leave this links at the top of the page. We want to help out all of the people we can, so there are some links here that you can donate to if you want. The last link is a spreadsheet of local breweries/distilleries/restaurants that are still open for carry out and delivery that you can shop at to help them stay afloat. We love local produced stuff, and we don’t want to see it disappear. Thank you all for reading, for voting,  and most importantly, for making Colorado the best damn place to call home! Cheers!

It’s time for some more Bracket Madness! Mile High Bourbon is once again running a Colorado Distillery Bracket, voted on by you! Votes will be made below, with current matchups at the top, and results for each round moving down as the game goes on. Voting rounds will be open as follows:

Round 1, Match 9-16: February 25th to February 29th
Round 2: March 2nd to March 7th

Perfect Bracket Challenge*: Print out or download (click here for PDF) and fill out a bracket for a chance to win a prize package from Mile High Bourbon, including 2 Whiskey Glasses, MHBR stickers, and more! Email your bracket to reviews@milehighbourbon.com.

With the first round of voting having issues regarding duplicate votes, Mile High Bourbon will be removing duplicate votes by the same IP address at the end of each round of voting. This means if you are trying to have multiple people vote from the same device, they will need to use their own computer or phone to vote. We are working to find a new polling tool to correct this issue, but this is the best solution we have at this point. Thank you all for understanding, and remember to have fun! Cheers!

Final Match Results
Quarter Finals Results
Round 2 Match 1-4 Results
Match 9-12 Final
Match 1 to 4 Results
Match 5 to 8 Final Results

Please note, final vote totals were edited due to multiple votes coming in from the same IP address, which was not supposed to be allowed. One match had a single user vote more than 3,000 times. This has been addressed for all subsequent rounds, and Mile High Bourbon will be manually removing duplicates at the end of each voting period.

Special thank you to the Folks at Mystic Mountain Distillery who first brought this to our attention, even at the cost of their match up. Integrity holds a special place to us, and that high level of it deserves to be recognized.

*Must be 21 or Older to enter. Brackets must be received by February 16th, 2020. Winner will be notified via the email address that the bracket was submitted with. Prize pack includes 2 MHBR glasses, MHBR stickers, and prizes from select Colorado distilleries including free samples. Winner must provide MHBR with a copy of their ID via email to receive prize package. Prize will be mailed out no later than 2 weeks after the bracket champion is decided. Please email reviews@milehighbourbon.com with any questions.

Elkins is the absolute best place in town

Man, I wish you would nix those distilleries that don’t actually produce their own products. There are a ton of great actual grain to glass distilleries here in CO. As it is now, ya might as well make it a CO+IN bracket.

  4. Caroline McCracken

Spirit Hound is the best of the best.

    1. Andrew THOMAS Wootten

      YES! By far!

  5. Dylan

I love Branch and Barrel They distill all their own spirits right here in Denver and we love their whiskey. Keep up the great work down there.

  6. Dylan

My vote goes to Branch and Barrel. Great whiskey, fun group of people to share a glass of whiskey with. Happy to see that they do all their own distilling, and aging right here is Centennial. Way to go Branch and Barrel.

  7. Andrew Wootten

YES! By far! I’m so glad I found that gem when I lived in Longmont for two years.

  8. Todd Mowbray

Branch & Barrel gets my vote. Nothing but great tasting HAND CRAFTED liquid comes out of their doors!

  9. Gil Smith

Spirit Hound; the best Gin ever!!

  10. Bob Adelsperger

Elkins Distillery gets my vote. The family atmosphere, patrons, and the Staff creates a fun environment. Their products are wonderful, and the drinks are great. My favorite is the Elkins Apple with chocolate bitters, black cherry soda, a cherry, and cinnamon stick.

  11. S. Talley

    Love the smoothness of Locke+Co

  12. Jarrett

5280 has the best whiskey and vodka I’ve ever had honestly and the distillery has a really comfortable theme to it. Highly recommend a visit even if it’s just to check it out

  13. Debby Cook Locke

Locke and Co. Has no after taste ,smooth and enjoyable

  14. Maryann

    Love 52eighty!

  15. Patty

52eighty will ALWAYS get ,my vote. If you haven’t been there/ tried it, you really should!!

  16. H Mujica

Locke + Co is so smooth and versatile. Just did a blind tasting with some friends & this bottle won hands down. Plus these guys have a great story with old Denver roots which is pretty cool.

    1. Jeremy O

Yes! I also did a tasting with them, and they made it so fun and interesting! I really learned a lot and walked away with a new favorite whiskey!

      1. Zach H

I think H Mujica did a tasting with several bottles/brands, whereas you did a specific tasting with Locke + Co. Either way, sounds like you guys both like the whiskey. I’ll have to give it a try.

  17. Dave

Big fan of Lock + Co. Dangerously good.

  18. Valerie L

So many good options here! I’m excited to go out and try some of these brands!

  19. Jan

ACK! No update?! Gotta see my Tower 56 in there!

    1. Brian Hamstren

Hey, congrats! Sadly my Bear Creak didn’t make it, but looks like i should give some of these a try! The most exciting thing about this is trying these other labels I haven’t paid attention to before!

Also, I can’t vote for anything yet. 🙁 I’m not really sure who to vote for any more though as I’m not familiar with them other than Leopold Bros. I’ll give your Tower a try as well as the others!

        Hi Brian,
Not sure how but it looks like the dates on the poll got messed up. We have fixed it and Semi-Finals are now opened up for voting! Thank you very much

This was a lot of fun. Grabbed a bottle of Locke to see what all the hype was about and decided it is one of my new favorites. There’s an article on the site here about drinking it, and what to expect, and also about how it changes with water. Give it a read, and then give it a try. https://milehighbourbon.com/2019/06/12/locke-co-aspen-aged-rye-whiskey/

Hey Dave, Thanks for reading, and we’re thrilled to hear you found a new Colorado favorite! Cheers!
