Buffalo Trace Distillery has announced it’s 2017 Antique Collection
George T. Stagg Straight Bourbon: 309 Barrels were bottled for this years release, aging for 15 years and 3 months before being bottled. The Stagg comes in at 129.2 Proof for this release, and Buffalo Trace’s tasting comments are “Expresso, chocolate fudge, and tobacco.” No filtration on the Stagg.
Sazerac 18 Year Straight Rye: 25 barrels of Sazerac 18 Rye release this year. Bottled at 90 proof, Buffalo Trace added the tasting notes of “leather, clove, and all-spice.” The Sazerac 18 is chill filtered.
William Larue Weller Straight Bourbon: 155 barrels of the W.L. Weller will be released this year, aged for 12 years and 6 months. Buffalo Trace’s tasting notes are “toffee, marshmallow, and leather” on this 128.2 proof bourbon.
Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Straight Rye: 72 Barrels make up the selection of the Thomas H. Handy Sazerac, aged for 6 years and 5 months when they were bottled. Thomas H. Handy comes in at 127.2 proof, and Buffalo Trace says notes of “fig, all-spice, and cinnamon” make up this whiskey.
Eagle Rare 17 Year Straight Bourbon: 36 barrels selected by taste and chill filtered were bottled for the Eagle Rare this year. Aged for 17 years and 3 months, the bourbon comes in at 90 proof with tasting notes of “Oak, tobacco, toffee, and vanilla” from Buffalo Trace.
